About
Engineering, practical work and personal projects
My name is Tomasz Gmerek. I work on programming, websites, technical solutions and projects that can actually be built, deployed and maintained.
I like building things from scratch, testing them in practice and improving weak points. I care more about usefulness and clarity than show.
Along the way I combine software, web, electronics, automation, smart home, KNX and Apple technologies. These are not separate boxes. The most interesting results appear where they start to work together.

Websites
I design and build websites: fast, clear, without unnecessary clutter. Hosting, domain and maintenance included.
IT administration and servers
I set up and maintain servers, networks and backups. Migrations, data security and self-hosted solutions.
Smart home - the software side
I connect the smart home on the software side: Home Assistant, HomeKit bridges, device integrations and custom weather stations. Everything brought together into one system.
IT support and consulting
Hardware setup, software installation, help and advice when something doesn’t work.

This section collects current and future projects. Right now it includes Litari and FixZettel, with Dopli in preparation.
Litari
A breeding record that stays on your device. Animals, litters, health, documents and finances in one place. Data stays local, with no account on someone else's server.

The commissioning record is made on site, with photos. Web app (PWA) for Austrian electrical contractors: commissioning documentation with photos by site, staircase and floor, a PDF matrix and a company calendar with an ICS feed. Works without signal too.

Dopli
The household keeps its own books. Expenses from a scanned receipt, a shared shopping list, and water, power and gas meters read from a photo. Everything syncs between household members over iCloud - no account, no third-party server. Unusual consumption reports itself.

How I work
I value structure, function and clear purpose
I am not interested in building things only to make the first screen look impressive. If something is worth building, it should be clear, useful and possible to grow further.
I work best where technical thinking meets practice. Sometimes it is a website, sometimes a tool, sometimes a hardware solution or automation. The rule stays the same: it has to work and make sense.
Growth
gmerek.at is meant to be the main base for my work.
This is where more software projects, websites, tools and technical ideas will appear as I keep developing them on my own.
